What It’s REALLY Like To Become A Mom

When they first laid my daughter on my chest after she was born, I remember thinking two things. First, I can’t believe I just gave birth! And second, I have a baby. You may be thinking that second thought is quite obvious! Of course I had a baby after being pregnant for 9 months and then laboring and giving birth. But there was a lot of weight that came with that thought. I actually had a baby. There was no going back now: I had a baby and would always have a baby. My life was never going to be the same. This feeling of irreversibility is common for new parents to experience as the weight of responsibility settles in. For me, it was the first of a rollercoaster of emotions that I experienced as I settled into motherhood. Read on to learn more about how I experienced becoming a mom!
